Catalyst Pay · Bitcoin payments for business
Accept Bitcoin payments in your business.
We set up a bitcoin checkout for your website, your invoices and your counter. Payments go straight to your own wallet, cost less than cards, and can't be charged back.

Why businesses add bitcoin
Keep more of every sale.
Card processing takes about 2.6–3.5% of every sale, plus disputes. Bitcoin payments go to you directly.
Lower fees
No card processing fee. Lightning payments cost a fraction of a cent; on regular payments the customer pays the network fee.
No chargebacks
A bitcoin payment can't be reversed by the payer. No disputes weeks later, no chargeback fees.
Straight to your wallet
Paid any hour, any day, into a wallet you control. No payout schedule, no frozen account.
How it works
Set up for you, in three steps.
We set up your checkout
Your store on our BTCPay Server, with your name and logo on the checkout, in dollars. No servers or software for you to run.
You connect your wallet
We help you connect a wallet you control. We only ever have its public key: it can make receiving addresses, never spend.
You start taking bitcoin
The Pay with Bitcoin button on your site, payment links on your invoices, a point-of-sale screen at the counter, or a Shopify or WooCommerce plugin.
Paid in seconds
Can't wait 10 minutes for a block? Use Lightning.
Lightning is bitcoin's instant layer: it settles in about a second for a fraction of a cent, so the customer at your counter isn't left waiting. Regular payments take about 10 minutes and suit invoices and larger amounts. Your checkout offers both — try them in the demo above.
Pricing
One setup fee, one small monthly. No cut of your sales.
The setup covers your store, connecting your wallet, the button on your site and a walkthrough. The monthly covers hosting, the node and support. We quote both within one business day.
Questions
Accepting bitcoin, answered.
How can a small business accept bitcoin?
Add a bitcoin checkout to the places you already get paid: a Pay with Bitcoin button on your website, payment links on invoices, a point-of-sale screen on a phone or tablet at the counter, or a plugin for Shopify or WooCommerce. Catalyst sets it up on our own BTCPay Server and connects it to your own wallet, so customers pay you directly.
Do you hold my money?
No. Payments go straight from your customer to your wallet. We only ever have your wallet's public key, which can create receiving addresses but can't spend. We never take a cut out of your payments.
What does it cost?
A one-time setup fee and a small monthly fee for hosting and support, and no percentage of your sales. We quote both within one business day. Customers pay the bitcoin network fee on regular payments; Lightning payments cost a fraction of a cent.
Is accepting bitcoin legal for a business in Texas?
Yes. Businesses in Texas and across the US can accept bitcoin as payment. You still collect sales tax as usual, and bitcoin you receive counts as income at its dollar value when you receive it. Check with your accountant for your situation.
Do I have to keep the bitcoin?
No. You can keep it, or send it to an exchange account in your name and turn it into dollars whenever you like. We don't convert or hold it for you, which keeps your money in your control.
Do customers have to wait 10 minutes for a block?
No. Customers can pay with Lightning, bitcoin's instant layer, which settles in about a second for a fraction of a cent. Regular on-chain payments are final after one confirmation, about 10 minutes, which is best for invoices and larger amounts. Your checkout offers both.
What do my customers need?
Any bitcoin wallet, such as Cash App, Strike, Phoenix or a hardware wallet. They scan a QR code or tap a link. Lightning payments settle in seconds; regular on-chain payments confirm in about 10 minutes.
What about chargebacks and refunds?
Bitcoin payments can't be reversed by the payer, so there are no chargebacks. If you want to refund a customer, you send it from your wallet, and BTCPay can create a refund link for them.
What happens if your server goes down?
The button checks our Bitcoin node's status live. If it ever can't be reached, the button says so and steps aside so customers use your other payment options. Nothing is charged.
